HALF MARATHON

Starting in beautiful Havre de Grace, Maryland, this USATF-certified course travels through historic HdG and over the Thomas J. Hatem Bridge into the quaint town of Perryville. Runners are treated to scenic waterfront views of the Susquehanna River before heading back to the Hatem Bridge for a fast finish and the post-race celebration. Strollers are not permitted in the half marathon.

PACE GROUPS

SRRF has pace groups available for the half marathon. Baltimore Pacemakers will help you hit your goal time without the trouble of monitoring your GPS all morning! Plus, what could be better than running with a group of people shooting for the same time goal as you? Just look for the pacer sign in your assigned corral and join the group. Pace groups available this year include:

10K RUN

Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024

Course Time Limit: 14:00/mile pace
Start Line: Perry Point VA Medical Center, Perryville, MD location map
Finish Line: Millard Tydings Memorial Park, Havre de Grace, MD location map

The 10K route starts in Perryville, MD on the property of the VA Medical Center. After a short bus ride from Havre de Grace, runners take to the streets and head toward the Thomas J. Hatem Bridge to may their way into Havre de Grace. A few turns and the finish line awaits at Tydings Park, followed by a post-race party overlooking the Susquehanna! Strollers are permitted in the 10k.

Please Note: ALL RUNNERS MUST TAKE A BUS TO THE START LINE*** Buses load from Tydings Park in Havre de Grace, MD and drop off at the 10K start on the VA property. The last bus leaves Tydings Park at 7:40 - NO EXCEPTIONS.


5K RUN/WALK

Course Time Limit: 1 hour 15 minutes (24:08/mile pace)

The 5k route leads runners and walkers through historic Havre de Grace, MD. Water views and a flat route welcome participants all the way to the finish line at Tydings Park, where the party begins! Strollers are permitted in the 5k.

Jogging strollers are permitted for the 5K and the 10K. They are not allowed for the half marathon.


VIRTUAL RACES

We are excited to offer a virtual race option for the half marathon, 10k, and 5k for the 2024 Susquehanna River Running Festival. Haven’t participated in a virtual race before? No problem! It’s easier (and more fun) than you might think!

Can’t run the race and get the SWAG if you don’t register! Head to the registration page here to get signed up, and be sure to bring your friends! During registration you can also opt-in to report your race results via text or email (we’ll explain more below) and confirm your shipping address.

Run Your Race

Normally we toe the starting line at 8:00 AM on Saturday, but with the virtual event you’ve got the whole weekend to run! You can run your race anytime between Saturday, September 21st and Sunday, September 22nd. You can run anywhere you like - your neighborhood, your favorite trail, your treadmill, etc. We encourage all participants to use the RaceJoy app, where you can track your run, automatically submit your results, send and receive cheers to/from other participants!

Submit Results

After you run your race you can submit your results automatically through the RaceJoy app, through text or email (if opted in), or directly on the runsignup.com results page from September 21st through September 22nd (11:59PM Eastern Time). If you have questions about submitting results don't hesitate to reach out to us at events@charmcityrun.com. Results automatically update as times are submitted, so you can check the results to see how you stack up against the competition.

BIB MAILING OPTION

If you are participating in the in-person race and can not make it to the race expo, or if you simply prefer having the convenience, you may choose to have your race bib and shirt mailed to you for an additional fee.

Virtual participants will have their race packet mailed to them automatically at no additional charge.

Please note: If you select the bib mailing option you cannot defer your entry to the following year after the bib mailing cutoff date.

If you are already registered and would like to add bib mailing to your race entry, CLICK HERE to log in to your RunSignup account. Select “Manage Registration” next to the race name, then “ADD-ONS” at the top of the page.


AWARDS

Awards will be given for the in-person Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K as follows:

  • Top three overall males and females (based on gun time)

  • Top male and female masters (based on gun time)

  • Top three nonbinary finishers (based on gun time)

  • Top three males and females in the following age groups (based on chip time): 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80 and over.

There is NO double dipping! Awards will be presented at the post-race party, so be sure to check your results on RunSignup and stick around if you’ve earned an award! There are no awards given for the virtual races.


GETTING TO THE RACE

We ask all runners to PLAN AHEAD AND ARRIVE AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! There is ample street parking in Havre de Grace to park all of our runners. Detailed maps will be posted prior to race day.

Remember - All 10k runners MUST park in Havre de Grace and ride the race shuttle buses to the 10K start. There is NO RACE PARKING or access to the 10k start area in Perryville for private vehicles.


PHOTOGRAPHY

SRRF is happy to offer free race photography to capture your awesome running photos at the start, on the course and at the finish. When you see a photographer on the course, don’t forget to put on a big smile, break out your best (or goofiest) pose or simply give a big cheer. We want to make sure we catch a great moment of your SRRF experience. Thank you to Chessie Photo for documenting our big day!

TRAINING PROGRAMS

Our training programs are open to everyone from the runner attempting their first endurance event to the repeat competitive runner. Training can be individualized to your experience and goals. The program will prepare to race your best - whether you're new to running or a seasoned runner.

Training groups meet year round based on your goal, and gather once a week for speed workouts and once a week for long runs. Your expert coach will also provide you with a weekly training plan that will guide your preparation for your target half marathon. Along the way you'll learn about about increasing your mileage, tempo runs, track workouts, hill workouts, recovery runs, nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, and much more.



EVENT GUIDELINES:

Please no baby joggers, strollers, roller blades, skates, bikes, dogs, pets or headphones allowed on the race course. Your race number must be worn on your front and must be visible. DO NOT exchange or give your race number to another participant.
